Design and Symbolism
The flag of Chile consists of two horizontal equal bands of red and white and a blue square with a white five-pointed star in the upper left part of the flag. The flag is similar to the flag of Texas (US State). White represents the snow of the Andean mountains. Blue represents the sky of the country's land and ocean. Red stands for the blood spilled to achieve independence. The white star represents an independent state and a guide to progress and honor.
