Flag of Uganda

The flag is made up of is six horizontal bands black, yellow, red (top) and black, yellow, and red (bottom) and a white disc is superimposed at the centre which bears the national symbol, a grey crowned crane. The three colors black, yellow and red are representative of African people, Africa's sunshine and African brotherhood respectively. The grey crowned crane is well known for its gentle nature and was also the military badge of Ugandan soldiers during British rule. The raised leg of the crane symbolises the progress of the country. The Crane is a national bird of Uganda and it appeared on the national coat of arms already by the time when Uganda was a British colony.
