Flag of Gambia

The flag composed of horizontal tricolor of red, blue and green, each band is seperated by a narrow band of white color. These colours of the flag carry political, regional and cultural meanings. The top red band alludes to the sharp rays of the sun, the blue band represents the Gambia river which is the main source of water of the country and lastly the green band indicates the land. Another interpretation says that green should commemorate the forests and the agricultural goods that the Gambian people are heavily dependent on, both for exports and their personal use and that red stripe should stand for savannas.
