Flag of Central African Republic
The flag comprised of four horizontal bands (blue, white, green and yellow) intersected by one vertical red band and a five pointed star in the upper left corner. The colours chosen are meant to be symbolic of France (blue and white) and Africa (green and yellow) with the red vertical band connecting them both in unity. The design symbolically expressed his realization that France and Africa must march together. The Constitution of the Central African Republic describes the flag as "four equal sized horizontal bands of the colours blue, white, green and yellow, perpendicularly barred in their centre by a red band. The yellow star is considered to be representative of independence which symbolizes a bright future. The red stripe is said to represent the common blood of humanity and symbolizes the respect that Europeans and Africans have for each other. Red, white and blue are taken from the French Tricolor, and red, yellow and green are the Pan-African colors.
