Flag of Tunisia
The flag consists of red feild with a white circle containing a red five pointed star surrounded by a red crescent. The star and crescent recalls the Ottoman flag and is therefore an indication of Tunisia's history as a part of the Ottoman Empire. Red color symbolizes the blood of martyrs killed during the Turkish conquest of Tunisia in 1574 and resistance against Turkish supremacy while the white color symbolizes peace and dignity. The white disk symbolizes the radiance of the nation as the sun while the five pointed star represents the five pillars of Islam and the crescent stands for the unity among Muslims. The flag may resemble a flag of Turkey.
