Flag of Mauritania
This flag contains green, gold and red colors and also upward pointed gold crescent and star, with a red stripe at the top and bottom of the flag. Green color is used to symbolize Islam and the crescent and star are also the symbols of Islam. The gold color represents the Desert of Sahara. The two red stripes at the top and bottom of the flag represents the efforts and sacrifices that the Mauritanians will keep consenting, to the price of their blood and to defend their territory. These stripes was adopted in for the first raising of flag on 28 November 2017 (the 57th anniversary of Mauritania's independence). The green and gold colors also symbolizes the Pan African colors.
