Flag of Egypt

This flag consists of three horizontal stripes of red, white and black color and in the middle of the white stripe, so called Saladin's Eagle is placed which is a national symbol of Egypt and it refers to Arabic identity and independence. The eagle stares toward the left side of the flag and he holds a sheild composed of three parts on his chest. The panel beneath the eagle bears an inscription "al-gumhurĂ­ja Misr al-Arabiya", which means the “Arab Republic of Egypt”. The red color refers to bloodshed in numerous wars, the white color symbolizes the advent of 1952 Revolution which ended the monarchy without bloodshed and lastly the black color stands for the oppression of the people of Egypt at the hands of the monarchy and British colonialism (the period after 1952).The Eagle of Saladin also represents power and strength.
